I was laying on the floor with my head propped on a pillow of warm black fur, thanks to Onyx. My eyes were at that exact right height to view the full moon out the window. My attention shifted from watching the boys to studying how that bright yellow ball thousands of miles away was framed perfectly between the top of the window and the neighbors roof line - about a three inch gap from my perspective. A minute sooner or later, the view would've been entirely different - probably just the black night sky. It got me thinking about chance encounters and being in the right place at the right time and how those moments are usually brief and, frankly, often overlooked. But, when we do reconginze them, they are almost always good reminders to slow down, take it all in, soak it all up.
Who cares if I had spent most of my day in pajamas watching two little boys play on the floor? Is there really such a thing as spending too much time with your kids? The days can be exhausting, the tasks sometimes mundane, but these days, this time, you never get it back. There's such a short window where a parent can really be impressionable and I don't want to miss it.
Perspective is an interesting thing. It can bring clarity and peace or frustration and anger. It all depends on where you're standing...or laying.

Rachelle, Simple, true, and often overlooked view of our experiences. And aren't we really doing one the most important jobs on the planet...caring for our kiddos...no matter how exhausting and frustrating b/c those glorious moments have a tendency to pop out right when we need them! Beautiful post, as always. I love your perspective when you write, lying down or standing! :) Kristin
Love your viewpoint. How true it is that there is such a short window of time to really be impressionable. Even though we go throug life still needing our parents, there is never a moment in life as there is as a small child who is totally dependent on their parents. Their existance depends on their parents for the very basic things in life: shelter, food, and most of all, love. You and been do a good job of provding what they need. So enjoy these short moments in your children's life because they will be gone before you know it.
Love,
Mom Brenda
So true, Rachelle. Influence with our children is like a gate that slowly closes, never to be opened with such ease again. These days are so short. It makes me happy to see you really embracing each one. Your boys (and you) are so very blessed.
